Girls Basketball

The girls basketball team began their season with a terrific start. They held a record of 15 wins and only 2 losses, one of which came last saturday. Then with less than 24 hours later they played Mount Vernon in the JFK tournament in the Bronx, and the Friars were looking to get back to their winning ways,and they certainly accomplished this by winning by more than 30 points. The final score was 82-50.
The Friars whose team is filled with depth, was led by Kerrin Maurer with 15 points, 12 assists and 5 steals. Micki Impellizeri also had 12 points and 6 rebounds. Kelly and Kimani Jackson each had 9 points in the game as well. At the half the Friars led by 43 to 28 going into the half.
Despite Mount Vernons size under the hoop the Friars still managed to penetrate their defense and make 26 lay ups. The Friars seized control early and maintained their control with ease for the remainder of the game.
